2011 Year in Review: Universoul Circus

Jean-Claude Belmat, a straps aerialist with UniverSoul Circus, waited for his introduction to the big top during Wednesday afternoon's matinee performace in Kansas City, Mo. north of Kemper Arena. The circus troupe, which began in 1994 as an all African-American circus, travels ten months a year with performers from countries ranging from the United States to Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Colombia, Dominican Republic, China, Cuba, Russia, and Brazil. The performances run through Sunday.
